US shipyard to build two Aker designed supply vessels
Diesel electric ships designed for use in the Gulf of Mexico...






Aries Marine Corp, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, has signed a letter of intent with Eastern Shipbuilding Group of Panama City, Florida for the construction of two Aker Yards PSV23 DE supply vessels.

This latest AY clean design developed for the Gulf of Mexico is a diesel electric DP II vessel with 4 x 1800kW gensets installed on the main deck and provides for a total deadweight capacity of approximately 4300 L.tons.

The first vessel is due for delivery in 2010. Please see photos of the vessel attached.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group is a shipbuilding and marine repair company specializing in commercial steel and aluminum vessel construction and repair. Eastern also engages in industrial steel fabrication.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group's eleven acre Nelson Street shipbuilding and repair facility is located close to downtown Panama City, Bay County, Florida and has over 1,300 feet of water frontage situated on deep water St. Andrew Bay, a short distance from the Gulf of Mexico. Adjacent to the Nelson street shipyard is our six acre East Avenue fabrication yard, where much of the modular pre-fabrication is performed.
