Weather Chaos Funnels Passengers to Condor Clipper
People caught out by air cancellations take to the sea...

Condor Ferries has seen dozens of late bookings for last night and tonight’s Commodore Clipper service between the Islands and Portsmouth as people seek to beat airport closures and flight cancellations to get to their destination.

The Clipper carried more than 100 extra foot passengers who booked late yesterday afternoon for the evening sailing, which arrived in Portsmouth at 6.30am this morning (Thursday 2 December), giving people the opportunity to move on to their final destination before the morning rush hour.

Steve Bailey, Jersey Manager for Condor Ferries, said:

‘The Commodore Clipper really does offer a true lifeline service for the Islands, particularly in unusual weather conditions such as those we are experiencing. The Clipper offers a six day per week service to the UK, particularly good for those still looking to do their Christmas shopping!

‘I doubt we will see the increase in passengers we experienced during the ash cloud crisis, but it’s rewarding to be able to help passengers that normally fly get to their destination.’
