Steam Packet Co website back online
Third party glitch rectified...

Visitors to the Isle of Man's Steam Packet Co website recently would have been puzzled (as Shipping Times was!) to see the site had disappeared and been replaced by a holding page.

Those who depend on the site for service announcements, bookings and news of the company will be relieved to hear that it has returned.

The Company said it has investigated the situation, which was the result of a third-party website hosting and administration issue over which the Company had no control. The problem was rectified yesterday by the third-party providers involved.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has been notified that while the problem has been fixed, it may take up to 48 hours for the solution to work its way through to the various internet service providers.

Mark Woodward, Chief Executive of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, said: “As soon as we became aware of an issue with our website, we immediately took steps to identify and have the problem fixed. The problem lay with third-party web hosting and administration providers who corrected their error yesterday. We apologise to customers wishing to access the website and make bookings, but can assure them that we have acted as swiftly as we can to rectify the situation, which arose due to an issue beyond our control.”
