Netherlands shipping company Vroon announced that yesterday, 15 January 2009, the launching and namegiving ceremony took place at Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, Japan of MV Silverstone Express, a PCTC (Pure Care and Truck Carrier) with a capacity of 3,900 cars.
This medium-sized PCTC is the first in a series of four vessels that will be delivered to Vroon throughout 2009 and 2010. The vessels will be able to carry both standard cars and ‘high and heavy cargo’, thus offering the necessary flexibility to the Charterers.
The Silverstone Express will be delivered by the yard in May 2009.
In addition, Vroon has invested in another series of four vessels. These vessels, with a capacity of 3,500 cars, are to be delivered from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in the course of 2009 and 2010.
