SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE makes first call at Cardiff
Port hopes to welcome many more cruise ships in future...

The Spirit of Adventure sailed from the Port of Cardiff recently after her first visit to the city. At 140-m in length, and with six decks and 206 cabins, the cruise ship proved an impressive sight moored inside Cardiff’s Queen Alexandra Dock.


The cruise-call was the first turn-around visit at the port in recent years, and so all 168 of the ship’s crew, as well as shoreside workers from Associated British Ports (ABP), which owns and operates the port, worked hard to disembark over 350 passengers, re-supply the vessel for her next voyage, and check-in another 350 passengers at the start of their seven-night cruise to Ireland, the Scilly Isles and the Channel Islands.


Matthew Kennerley, ABP Port Director, South Wales, said: “It was an honour to welcome Spirit of Adventure on her arrival at the Port of Cardiff. There is an enormous amount to offer visitors to the city, and, when they arrive in cruise ships, the port is perfectly equipped to accommodate them. In addition, we hope the city’s growing – and well-deserved – popularity as a cruise destination will mean that ships of this nature become even more familiar sights at the Port of Cardiff in the future.”
