Picture of FRANCOISE GILOT which ran aground on Friday...

The photo shows the FRANCOISE GILOT which ran aground on Friday 9th of May at Port Philip Bay as it made its way to Sydney.

The captain and the pilot on board were breathalysed after the incident.

Although tugs were sent to help the distressed vessel, she managed to pull herself free and is seen in this shot shortly afterward, as she made her way back to Melbourne.

The container vessel is operated by ANL, a subsidiary of French shipping firm CMA CGM since 1998.

Photo kindly provided by Andrew Mackinnon of Melbourne.

The vessel was built in 1999 at the Xingang Shipyard in China.
