77 year old goes missing from suite with balcony, door had been locked from inside...

The US Coast Guard have suspended a search for an elderly passenger who went missing from Carnival's cruise ship FANTASY.

The un-named 77 year old was on the ship cruise alone in a balcony suite and passengers are said to have been concerned for him.

When the ship docked at the Port of New Orleans, it was noted that the man had not left the ship. Staff then forced their way into his cabin, which had been locked from the inside, and discovered the suite empty. A half drunk bottle of vodka was found outside the cabin on the balcony.

The passenger had last been sometime between 7 o'clock on the Friday evening and 4 o'clock Saturday morning.

The Coast Guard had made a 400 sq mile search of the Gulf of Mexico and of the Mississippi River.

Foul play has been ruled out.The man is believed to be from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
