Merwede shipyard launches offshore vessel for Toisa Ltd
IHC Merwede launched a new Diving Support / Offshore Construction vessel for Bermuda based Toisa Limited at the weekend...



The Launch took place on Saturday November 24th 2007 at Merwede Shipyard and was performed by Mrs Lorena Vázquez de Hernández, spouse of Mr José Hernández
Cantarell, President CICSA.


In March 2006 Merwede Shipyard was granted this order because, say the company, of its ability to design and offer a fixed
price for the vessel including the integration of the complete owner furnished dive spread and cranes within the required short delivery time. 

Yard No 712 was christened TOISA PEGASUS

The vessel is built in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of Det Norske Veritas, to obtain the
following notation:
DNV 􀀿 1A1, EO, SF, Dynpos, AUTRO, HELDK, DK+, DSV-SAT, ERN (99,99,93). The vessel will also
comply with the Rules and Regulations of the MCA for a United Kingdom Flagged vessel.

Established in 1989, Toisa Ltd is the owner of a modern fleet of twenty-three various offshore vessels, including four saturation DSV’s, and is recognised as one of the most modern and diverse fleets supporting the offshore oil and gas industry worldwide. An ongoing newbuilding programme, which includes the Toisa Pegasus, will add a further ten vessels to the fleet over the next four years.

Through its management subsidiary, Sealion Shipping Ltd, Toisa maintains offices in Farnham (UK), Singapore, Mexico and Brazil.

Sealion Shipping Ltd was established in 1975 as a specialist ship management company and began managing offshore support vessels in 1982. In 1989 Sealion became a subsidiary of Toisa Ltd since when it has exclusively managed the Toisa Fleet of offshore vessels. The fleet today comprises twenty-three various vessels including PSV’s, AHTS, ROV Support Vessels, Saturation DSV’s and Deepwater construction vessels. A further ten vessels, including Hull 712, are currently on order and will come under Sealion Management over the next four years.
