Ferguson Shipbuilders complete
£3m conversion
Branching out from shipbuilding, Scottish firm undertakes new field of
expertise...
Scottish press report that Ferguson Shipbuilders, the family-owned
shipyard at Port Glasgow on the Clyde, have recently completed a £3
million conversion on a standby vessel
The OCEAN SWAN
is operated by the Aberdeen-based company Ocean Mainport Rescue,
The work on the former supply vessel was described in the Herald
newspaper as a first of kind for Ferguson's, who have undergone a
rebranding and diversification strategy to counter a reduction in
shipbuilding orders in recent years.
The OCEAN SWAN was built in 1983 and is registered in the UK. She was
previously owned by Bourbon Offshore as the AMILCAR.
Ocean Mainport Rescue is a joint concern with Ocean Mainport of
Ireland and the Norwegian company Sartor Shipping.
Ferguson Shipbuilders, arguably the last commercial shipbuilder of any
size in the UK, now operates within the newly formed Ferguson Group,
offering a diverse range of services and products including
hydraulics, pipework, steel fabrication, design, joinery and
electrical design as well as their more well-known field of
shipbuilding.
