Spectacular side-launch of latest ship for Flinter
Ferus Smit Shipyards of Westerbroek celebrate sunny launch

On Saturday September 8th at Ferus Smit Shipyards in Westerbroek the spectacular launch of the newbuilding 376 took place under the watchful eye of the gathered crowds.

The vessel was named FLINTERFURY by Samantha de Graaf, partner of captain owner Dirk Arends from Harlingen.

Despite the not so good weather forecast, the skies miraculously cleared just before the ceremony.

A special event was the show by the rowing team Twirre, who had to safely manoeuvre their small vessel through the waves caused by the launch. Jacob Haan, captain and partner of the Arends family, who also manage the Flinterbelt, is active member of the Twirre rowing team.

The FLINTERFURY is the 5th vessel of the 4500 tons, ice class 1A series, that Ferus Smit Shipyards is building for Flinter. The FLINTERFURY will be followed by the TASMAN, the FLINTERFORTUNE and the FLINTER JUTE.
