ARKLOW RAIDER launched at
Barkmeijer Shipyards
Calmac adds another sailing as first cruise sells out
At BARKMEIJER SHIPYARDS, on Friday the 24th of August 2007 at 14.30
the coaster ARKLOW RAIDER was launched successfully.
The vessel is built on account of Arklow Shipping Limited in Arklow,
Ireland. The vessel will be equipped for unrestricted navigation and
transport of all kinds of dry cargoes. Furthermore, the vessel is laid
out for the carriage of containers.
The naming ceremony has taken place prior to the successful launch.
The ship’s sponsor is Mrs. Suzanne Tyrrell, daughter of one of the
members of the board of Arklow Shipping Limited.
The ARKLOW RAIDER is the twentieth ship built by Barkmeijer Shipyards
for Arklow Shipping Limited, and is the fourteenth ship out of the
successful series of 4500 DWT general cargo vessels. The hull
will be transported to Lemmer for final outfitting and commissioning.
Barkmeijer Shipyards has planned the delivery for early October 2007.

The ARKLOW RAIDER will be propelled by a MAK engine, type 6M25 running
on HFO380, driving a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction
gearbox.
The hold is box shaped and equipped with two movable bulkheads.
Furthermore provisions are made to carry certain categories of
dangerous cargoes.
