New cargo ship delivered from Damen Bergum
mv BLUE DRAGON delivered to Otto A Muller

On Saturday July 7th, the second vessel for the German shipping company Otto A. Müller was baptised and handed over from Damen Shipyards Bergum.

This vessel, the “Blue Dragon”, is the latest in the successful series of Combi Freighter 3850 vessels from Damen Shipyards Bergum,

The vessel has a capacity of 3800 tons and will be used for the transportation of loads like grain, coal, ores, but also for units of steel and containers.

The shipping company owns several vessels. The “Blue Dragon” is the second in a series of four for the same customer and charterer.

Otto A Muller was originally in the coal trade between the UK and the Continent, and is now mainly specialized in the trade from the Baltic states to Germany and the North sea harbours. Although most new vessels have an economic heavy oil installation, this shipping company has chosen an ‘old-fashioned’ installation on gas oil.

Considering the relatively short sea journeys and with a mind to emissions regulations in force and coming into force, the company opted for low sulphur gas oil.

The vessel was christened by Mrs. Annette Huppert, the wife of one of the investors in this vessel. After the christening there was a short round trip with the invited guests.

The christening was in the Nieuwe Industriehaven, Harlingen.
