Fifth body recovered from GOLDEN ROSE
Efforts by Chinese divers continue as fifth body is taken up from the wreck

Chinese authorities say a fifth body has been recovered from the GOLDEN ROSE, the South Korean cargo vessel that sank on Saturday May 12th following a collision with a Chinese container ship.

Divers recovered the unnamed crew member shortly after they brought up the body of Lim Kyu-yong, a 44 year old South Korean, on Saturday 26th May.

Last Tuesday (22nd May) the body of the captain was recovered.

All 16 crew members of the GOLDEN ROSE, which was carrying a cargo of steel from Liaoning Province in China to Jeju in South Korea, died after the collision with the JIN SHENG, a 4822 grt container vessel.

Controversially the Chinese ship did not report a collision until it arrived in Dalian, some eight hours later, sparking anger at what critics called a 'hit and run' collision. The Chinese crew maintained they knew nothing of the incident until the damage was spotted in port.
