CARNIVAL SPLENDOR to debut at
Dover
'Red letter day for port'
The world’s largest cruise line has chosen Dover Cruise Port as a
base for its first-ever Northern Europe cruise programme.
Carnival Cruise Lines’ new 113,300-ton Carnival Splendor will operate
a programme of six cruises following her delivery voyage to Dover.
When she arrives she will become the largest cruise ship to berth at
the port carrying more than 3,000 passengers.
“This will be a red letter day in the port’s history and an
opportunity for Kent to extend a warm welcome,” said Kate O’Hara,
Head of Commercial and Marketing, Port of Dover.
“The arrival of Carnival Cruise Lines in Dover will significantly
raise the profile of the cruising potential of Northern Europe to the
global cruise market and the opportunity to grow the market at a time
when demand for the Caribbean [the most popular cruising region] has
levelled off.”
Carnival Splendor represents a new class of Carnival SuperLiner with
a number of innovative facilities and features including exclusive
new “spa staterooms” that surround a luxurious 21,000 square foot
health and fitness centre.
She will operate five 12-day voyages to Denmark, Germany, Finland,
Russia, Estonia and The Netherlands before repositioning to the
Mediterranean. Reservations have opened and start from £749 per
person based on a double occupancy cabin.
All the vessels in Carnival’s 22-ship fleet can be distinguished by
the fish-tale shaped funnel which has become iconic since the company
was founded in America in 1972.
