Vroon christening ceremony

Hyundai-Mipo shipyards update
Deliveries, praise and news from Hyundai Vinshin

On March 29th, Hyundai Mipo Dockyward delivered Hull No. 0324, the third of four 47,000-dwt product carriers ordered by Dunya Denizcilik Ve Ticaret A.S in Turkey. The vessel was christened Gan-Valour and sailed for China on March 31st.

On April 2nd, there was another christening ceremony, this time for a 37,000-dwt (Hull No. 2002) and a 46,000-dwt (Hull No. 0309) product carrier ordered by Vroon Tankers B.V. At the ceremony Hull No. 2002 was named Iver Prosperity and the other vessel was named Iver Exact. Iver Prosperity was delivered right after the christening and Iver Exact was delivered April 9th.

The 47,000-dwt product carrier measures 184m in length, 27.4m in width, and 17.2m in depth. It has a service speed of 15.3 knots.

Captain Andreev Alexander, an employee of Vroon Tankers B.V., said "The quality of Petro-Chemical Product Carriers from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) is the world's best."  Alexander has operated five vessels from HMD so far, and he claims that all five have been perfect ships without any defects. He called the HMD PC the "Mercedes-Benz" of the ship market.

It was also noted by Alexander that the PCs made by HMD are very economical. He noted how safe the vessels are, both when sailing between US and South American harbours, and when passing under bridges. Although the interval between the bridge post and the vessel is only five feet, the bow thruster can be operated delicately in a very short period of time, allowing for a greater level of safety. He was so impressed with the level of quality HMD PC ships possess that Alexander said that he wanted his gratitude to be known to the entire HMD staff, especially those workers who were responsible for building, the vessel he piloted.

Meanwhile Hyundai-Vinashin Shipyard (HVS) has successfully completed elongating a tenth Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC). Because of this achievement, said the company, HVS can properly boast of its place as the world's best shipyard for repairs. HVS delivered Don Pasquale on March 23rd, which is the last PCTC of eight that were ordered by Wallenius of Sweden.

Since HVS delivered Mignon in March of 2005, the first of the 8 PCTCs for Wallenius, HVS has concluded elongation works for ten PCTCs, including two PCTCs for Eukor Car Carriers, Inc. So far, HVS has earned elongation contracts for fourteen PCTCs through their devotion to high quality, their strong efforts, and their attention to detail in each of their projects, the company said.
