Surgeon Lt. Cmdr Hughes

Body found, police believe it was missing navy man
Lothian and Borders Police say man found dead in tent could be Surgeon Lt Cmdr Hughes

Police searching for Dr David Hughes (37 years) have found the body of a man.

The discovery was made after his car was found earlier this afternoon near Braemar. A search and rescue team and officers from Grampian police then began an examination of the immediate area.

About fives miles from the car they discovered a tent. A man's body was inside.

Further work will now need to be done to formally identify the person but police believe the likelihood is it is David Hughes.

The body was found shortly before 7.30pm.

Officers from Lothian and Borders police have visited David's family to tell them about this latest development.

A police spokeswoman said: "Further examination and tests need to be done before we can formally identify the person found dead this evening. Tragically with the discovery of David Hughes's car nearby we believe it is likely to be him.

"The family are naturally devastated at this turn of events."

Shipping Times UK would like to express their deep sorrow and extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends at this very sad and distressing time
