Crewman collapses and dies after stroke on UK ship
Crewman dies whilst vessel in port at Island of Milos

A member of crew on Imperial Shipping of London's MINALAND collapsed outside the messroom of the vessel and died following a stroke.

The dead man's details have not been given out, however a company spokesman said the member of crew was not a UK national.

Crew called for a local doctor and sought to revive the man after witnessing him leaving the messroom and falling over, but he was found to have died.

There are not thought to be any factors other than natural causes and Greek authorities have arranged for his body to be taken to the mortuary in Piraeus for autopsy and the relevant embassy has been contacted.

The ship was loading at the Greek island of Milos at the time. She is currently on charter.

The ship's crewmanagement is undertaken by the company's subsidiary in Göteborg, Sweden and a spokesman there told Shipping Times they were shaken by the tragic loss.
