Euroseas takes delivery of German boxship
Euroseas Ltd. takes delivery of BIRTE RITSCHER

Euroseas Ltd. announced today that it took delivery of M/V MANOLIS P (ex M/V BIRTE RITSCHER), a Handysize containership of 20,346 dwt and 1,452 teu, built in 1995 in Germany, which it had previously agreed to acquire, on April 12, 2007.

The MANOLIS P was acquired for approximately $19.15 million and has been secured under a one-year period charter until March 2008 at $13,450 per day.

Our notes on BIRTE RITSCHER:
The ship managers are given as Transeste Schiffahrt, who themselves are a company jointly set up by Ritscher and Reederei Dietrich Tamke, and they, Transeste, have the vessel listed in their fleet. Transeste also state the vessel was chartered by Maersk.

Another company, Peter Döhle lay claim to her on their fleet list as well.

(We therefore assume that Döhle and Ritscher jointly owned the vessel prior to sale)

She flies the flag of Antigua and Barbuda.

Oh for the days when all you needed to know was the funnel markings and the port on the stern!
