Steam Packet Company drums up support for band
Isle of Man ferry company assists world famous band to island.

DOUGLAS businesses have teamed up to assist the Douglas Town Band in bringing the world famous Black Dyke Band to town.

The Steam Packet Company and the Sefton Hotel are sponsoring the special gala event which will take place at the Villa Marina on 21 April 2007.

Laura Howland, communications manager at the Steam Packet Company said:’We are really pleased to help the Douglas Town Band in this way and are glad to be involved in the town band’s120th Anniversary Celebrations.

‘The Black Dyke band are world famous and the event looks set to be a fantastic evening’s entertainment.’

David Woodiwiss, manager of the Sefton Hotel said: ‘We were delighted to hear that the famous Black Dyke Band had chosen to stay at the Sefton Hotel, and were pleased to be able to offer a concessionary rate for their accommodation as a birthday gift to Douglas Town Band”

The world renowned Black Dyke band have been in existence for almost 50 years. During that time they have played across the globe and worked with some of the music industry’s best known names.

Joanna Wilson spokeperson for the Douglas Town Band said: ‘We’d like to thank the Steam Packet Company and the Sefton Hotel for their assistance in this event and are thrilled to have the Black Dyke band playing at our special celebratory event.’
