Delivery of ANDROMEDA



Hyundai shipyard ceremonies in March for 37,000 dwt ships
Naming of GE Shipping's JAG PAYAL and delivery of Tsakos' ANDROMEDA

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard held a naming ceremony for a 37,000-dwt product carrier ordered by Great Eastern Shipping Co., Ltd  of India, with attendance of people from HMD and the shipowner on March 19.

The ship measures 183m in length, 27.34m in width and 16.7m in depth, named JAG PAYAL by Mrs. Asha Sheth, wife off the founder of GE Shipping

The ship, the last of two product carriers ordered by GE , was delivered right after the ceremony and set sail on its maiden voyage on March 20.


Earlier on 9th March HMD delivered a 37,000-dwt product carrier (Hull No. 0347) to TSAKOS Energy Navigation Limited of Bermuda.

This ship is the seventh among ten product carriers ordered by TSAKOS.

The ship was named ANDROMEDA at the naming ceremony and steamed out for Malaysia to load the first palm oil shipment.

As of March, HMD, the leading shipbuilder of medium-size product carrier sectors, has forty 37,000-dwt PCs on its order backlog.
