EUKOR orders four car carriers from Korean shipbuilders
Hyundai Heavy to build four Pure Car and Truck Carriers

EUKOR Car Carriers Inc. has placed an order with Korea shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for four (4) extra large Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs).

The vessels will be built at the HHI Shipyard in Ulsan, Korea. Deliveries are scheduled for 2010.

These ultra-modern, state-of-the-art ships will become the world’s largest PCTC’s with a length over all of 232 meters and a carrying capacity of 8,100 cars (RT43). They will each be equipped with a 150 ton stern ramp and 13 single-stanchion-row cargo decks whereof 4 decks are liftable.

In addition to the four new vessel contracts, EUKOR also signed an agreement with HHI to elongate four previously ordered 6,500 unit capacity vessels due for delivery in 2008-09. Theses vessels will hence have their carrying capacity increased by 20%.

EUKOR President and CEO Mr. Carl-Johan Hagman comments:

“These orders are further confirmation of our long term industrial relationship with Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s largest shipbuilder. These four new vessels - together with the more than 30 other vessels already in the pipe-line for delivery up to 2011 – will add significant new capacity to the current EUKOR fleet. We can now, for years to come, provide the highest quality shipping services to meet the increasing transportation demands from Hyundai Motors Corporation and the rest of the global automotive industry.”
