Crewman dead in another cruise ship incident in Greek waters
And a cruel link to SEA DIAMOND in charterers.

In yet another cruise ship incident in Greek waters, a Filipino sailor has been killed during a lifeboat drill on a German operated cruise ship.

The 47 year old died when a lifeboat harness snapped and brought the boat crashing down to dangle at the ship's side. Three other crew members were injured in the tragedy.

The incident on board Transocean Tours of Bremen's ASTORIA during a drill as she lay at Corfu happened on the same day (Thursday 5th April) that Louis Lines' SEA DIAMOND struck rocks and later sank (see separate report)

By a quirk of fate Transocean operate the ARIELLE which is Louis Lines' AQUAMARINE. The vessel has been on a five-year charter to Transocean since 2006.

The 18590 grt ASTORIA was built in 1981 as the ASTOR for Hadag Cruise Line by
Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Weft AG, Germany.
