Clydebank-managed Roro given Sea Rescue Award

The non-profit organization “Stiftelsen Sveriges Sjömanshus” has awarded M/S Stena Forecaster, Master Anders Fäger and the crew the 2007 Award for Sea Rescue Operation.

"MS Stena Forecaster – Rescue of crew from fishing vessel

"Late in the evening the 26 October 2007, the 22 m long Finnish fishing vessel Borka experienced distress in hard weather 35 km north of Dago after having seawater flooding the engine room. An Estonia rescue helicopter arrived at the scene but did not succeed in evacuating the 4 men strong crew from the vessel due to the prevailing hard weather. The crew decided to abandon the vessel and embark the life raft where after they were rescued by the Swedish RoRo vessel Stena Forecaster. Borka went down later that night.

"The Master of Stena Forecaster was Anders Fäger."

The STENA FORECASTER is managed from the Clydebank, Scotland offices of Northern Marine Management.

The ship was named Ship of the Year by Transfennica in 2005
