Four Star 'D' Class vessels sold to Italian owners

Four multi-purpose container ships of a class that are familiar to British waters have been sold to Italian owners recently.

Owned by Masterbulk Pte Ltd and operated by Star Shipping of Norway, the four, all built in 1978 in Japan, have reportedly been sold at $10 million dollars each to Bogazzi of Italy.

The distinctive blue hulled ships, STAR DAVANGER, STAR DRIVANGER, STAR DJERVANGER and STAR DROTTANGER are all Star 'D' Class vessels, built at Mitsui Tamano with the exception of STAR DAVANGER which was built by Kawasaki Heavy.

The ships can carry 1392 TEU containers and have weather protection gear on their decks to enable the transportation of cargo such as paper products.
