MSC CAROUGE named at Daewoo shipyard
The Naming Ceremony for DMHI’s
Hull No. 4054, MSC CAROUGE was held on March 24, 2007, at the Daewoo-Mangalia
Heavy Industries S.A. shipyard in the presence of about 75 people and was
performed by the Lady sponsor Prof. Dr. Edith Huland
Present were representatives of the owners, classification society, Port
State Authorities, pre-financing banks, operating company and
representatives of DSME.
The shipbuilding contract for Hull No. 4054 was signed on March 30, 2004,
ordered by GEBAB, care of Buxtehude-based NSB. The project Hull No. 4054,
MSC CAROUGE is the third vessel in a series of twelve and is chartered to
MSC.
The first two vessels in this series were DMHI’s Hull Nos. 4052 and 4053,
( MSC GENEVA & MSC LEIGH ). These first two projects of the series were
delivered in July 27, 2006, November 29, 2006 respectively . Currently
these types of vessels are the biggest ever built container carriers
operating in the Black Sea area and in Romania said Daewoo-Mangalia
By the delivery of this vessel to their owners, the company said, DMHI
demonstrates that it has state-of-the-art technology, capacities and
know-how to safely complete all the process from engineering to
procurement, construction and delivery of the vessel at high quality
standards.
