Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Update

On the principle of better late than never, some catch-up news from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard...

On February 3, HMD launched four ships at its No.1 dock. The first ship, hull No.0480, is the last 37,000-dwt product carrier in a series of two ships ordered by the Great Eastern Shipping in India. The second ship, hull No. 0324, is the third ship out of four 47,000-dwt product carriers ordered from Dunya Denizcilik Ve Ticaret A.S. of Turkey.

In addition, hull No. 0309 is the first vessel among three 46,000-dwt product carriers by Vroon Tankers B.V.in Netherlands. Lastly, hull No. 2002 is the sixth 37,000-dwt product carrier out of nine ordered by Vroon. Meanwhile, these four ships moved to the quay for outfitting and will be delivered to each owner in March and April.


HMD delivered three ships, two during the end of January and one on February. The most recent delivery of Hull No.2006 was held on Febuary 6. It is fourth ship in a series of five 13,000-dwt product carriers ordered by Eships Tankers Ltd, of Bermuda. The sips was named as Eships Dugon in the presence of HMD and Eship representatives. The ship measures 127.57m in length, 20.4m in width and 11.7m in depth with a service speed of 13.5 knots.

In addition, Hull No. 0426 (2,824 TEU containership) was delivered to E.R.Schiffahrt of Germany. It was named E.R.Martinique during the naming ceremony held on January 23 and it sailed to China after delivery.
