Eight crew missing after cargo ship sinks

Eight members of crew from the cargo vessl ZENITH LIGHT are still missing after she foundered off the Japanese coast.

Two Myanmar seamen were rescued on Wednesday night but Japanese patrol boats found the body of one man in an overnight search.

The missing sailors come from South Korea, Myanmar and Indonesia.

The ship was carrying a 3000 ton cargo of steel plates from Kisaru Port in Japan to Pohan, South Korea. She sent SOS messages on Wednesday afternoon but lost comminication shortly afterwards.

The ZENITH LIGHT was built in 1990 and had a tonnage of 2016 grt. She was owned and managed by DaeHo Shipping of Pusan. She was formerly the TAIYO MARU NO.2
