Ukraine shipyard begins construction of Rolls Royce design
Supply vessel laid down for Norwegian company

On February 9, 2007 a supply vessel was laid down at JSC Kherson Shipyard in Ukraine for the Norwegian Company Myklebust Prosject A.S.

The vessel is designed for servicing oil rigs and was designed by Rolls Royce Marine. She will supply oil producers with fuel oil, fresh water and various materials.

The shipbuilders say the the hull construction will be fabricated of high tensile Weldox grade steel and that this is the first time they have built a vessel with this material.

The yard is currently building four reefers, again for the same Norwegian company, and launched the first of the series on 13th December last year.

Until 2005 the yard mainly undertook repair work, following a downturn in orders after the collapse of the USSR. The controlling shares in the shipyard were bought in 2005 by Evroresurs, a company that has its roots in stock breeding and fodder!

The Kherson Shipyard was founded in 1951 and produced its first major vessel of any size in 1953, the 11800 dwt tanker KHERSON
